Stanford WELL for Life
VISION: To improve and sustain health and well-being globally
MISSION: To accelerate the science of well-being

Stanford WELL for Life (WELL) is a cutting-edge study at Stanford Prevention Research Center (SPRC) that is shifting the lens of chronic disease prevention to focus on understanding and enhancing well-being. What does it mean to be well and what can we do to increase one's well-being?

SPRC defines well-being as "a holistic synthesis of a person's biological, psychological, and spiritual experiences, resulting from interplay between individuals and their social, economic, and physical environments that promotes living a fulfilling life".

WELL is a global longitudinal study that uses novel methods to understand, measure, and promote multiple dimensions of well-being, the synthesis of each person’s biological, psychological, and spiritual experiences.

Our goal is to understand and measure well-being across countries and cultures. To date, we have recruited 31,625 participants from five study sites, including 6,780 from the US (mostly from the Bay Area), 10,290 from Hangzhou, China, 3,033 from New Taipei City, Taiwan, 9,300 from Singapore, and 2,184 from Bangkok, Thailand
